In a recent CPR challenge called "I Care, We Care," CSX employees of the Waycross Car Shop responded to the call to achieve 100 percent participation in CSX's CPR training program. After two months, during which the employees voluntarily and successfully completed the hands-on exercises, 77 of the shop's 95 employees achieved CPR certification – an 85 percent rate of participation.

After two months, 77 of the shop's 95 employees achieved CPR certification.

The challenge is part of the team's overall safety program. "We considered the 'I Care, We Care' challenge as a way to build continuity and teamwork here at the shop," said Matt Carson, senior general foreman. "Actions speak louder than words, and this is one more way for us to demonstrate our commitment to safety and to give back to our community."

Completing the CPR training also qualified the Waycross Car Department for an AED (automated external defibrillator) in the shop from CSX's Wellness Department, which is the group that coordinated the hands-on classes.
