Runner With A Cause

I began running two years ago, when I started working at CSX. At 30 years old, I was already being outrun by my kids and quickly getting out of shape. I wanted to die when my co-workers dragged me out the door for my first lunchtime run! Since then, I've run in several area charitable races and love it. CSX Real Property has put together a running team and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure for two years now, in memory of our co-worker Marian Jackson. Somehow, running for a great cause just keeps you motivated when you want to quit.

I had a recent health scare that I thought could end my running days. It made me realize how precious my health is and reminded me NEVER to take it for granted. That is why I'm running and doing it for a charity like Paul Newman's "Hole in the Wall Gang." I want to raise money for kids who are medically limited from doing all the things they dream of doing. My ultimate goal -- to run a marathon!

Here's an update to my story – I raised over $3,500 for "The Hole in the Wall Gang" camps and finished the Disney Marathon on January 11!
