Rethinking How You Get to Work

I just recently moved to Jacksonville from Atlanta. The traffic congestion in Atlanta was simply awful, and we suffered frequent fuel shortages. There were daily advisory smog alerts. The haze over the city could be seen from a distance.

I chose to cut my commuting costs as well as lower my carbon footprint by riding a motorcycle. The 2008 motorcycle I have gets a little over 50 mpg as opposed to my 1968 Camaro, which gets around 12 mpg. The added bonus was the stress relief from the bike ride; no phone calls and no distractions.

In Jacksonville, I have chosen to carpool to work. Change happens as a result of many individuals making a conscious effort. I had to adjust my attitude concerning natural resources. They are not inherited from our parents, but rather borrowed from our children.
