CSX Rapid Response Team Conducts Police Training

CSX Takes Part in ChemCamp to Encourage Science Education

CSX Poster Contest Helps Kids Understand Safety

CSX Donates $4,000 to Tennessee Fire Department

On December 23rd, CSX Transportation presented a surprise $4,000 donation to the Decherd, Tennessee's fire department to assist in the city's purchase of new emergency First Responder equipment. CSX and Operation Lifesaver Launch "Common Sense"

In an unprecedented partnership, CSX, Operation Lifesaver, Inc., the U.S. Department of Transportation and other major railroads from across the country recently announced the launch of the Common Sense campaign, designed to reduce the number of pedestrians who are killed or injured when trespassing around tracks and trains. The campaign is directed at 18 to 34-year-olds, who make up the largest percentage of railroad-related pedestrian casualties.

Alabama Corridor Safety Efforts

Montgomery, AL to Mobile, AL —

Since the year 2000, the corridor from Montgomery, Alabama to Mobile has seen a high number of rail collisions. In a continuing effort to promte rail education and safety, CSX has heightened its public safety awareness activities in this region of Alabama.

2008 Trespassing Incident Update

There are two people killed or injured every 24 hours somewhere in the United States trespassing on railroad property. By partnering with local communities, CSX has heightened awareness and reduced the number of trespassing incidents.

[there were 132 trespass incidents in 2003, 228 in 2004, 188 in 2005, 174 in 2006, and 161 in 2007]

2008 Crossing Incident Update

In the United States, approximately every 2 hours a collision occurs between a train and vehicle or a train and a pedestrian. CSX has implemented a number of efforts to reduce the number of incidents over the past five years.

Safety Campaign at the Daytona 500

2/14/2008–2/17/2008 in Daytona Beach, FL —

CSX was onsite at the 50th Anniversary of the Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, FL, from February 14th - 17th. The sponsorship featured a Keep on Living tent on the grounds of the track, with Keep on Living floppy hats, stickers and race kits distributed to more than 11,000 of the 250,000 fans who attended.
