CSX Corporation (NYSE: CSX) was named one of the gold-level “First Coast Healthiest Companies” by the Jacksonville Business Journal and the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC). CSX was honored at the Helping Everyone Achieve Lifelong Total Health (H.E.A.L.T.H.) summit held yesterday, which included a keynote address from Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown.
“Health and wellness are core tenets of our workforce philosophy and we’re proud to be recognized for our commitment to employees,” said Dr. Tom Neilson, chief medical officer. “Healthy employees are safe and productive employees, which is why we invest in some of the most cutting-edge health technologies and practices in our industry.”
2012 marks the fourth consecutive year CSX was honored in the “gold” category of the Healthiest Companies award. CSX maintains 36 Health and Wellness Centers throughout its network to help employees take active responsibility for their health. The centers include licensed dietitians, health fitness specialists, wellness coaches, certified diabetic educators, registered nurses, and ergonomists.
In addition, CSX’s headquarters in Jacksonville houses a full-scale workout facility complete with daily fitness classes and certified trainers. Recently, the company embarked on a “Small Steps” program to promote healthy activity by rewarding employees who activated their CSX-issued pedometer and logged the most steps in a 90-day period. CSX also supports a Health & Wellness Inclusion group, one of more than 40 diversity and inclusion groups available to employees.
