A team of 77 CSX employees, lead by Team Captain Rob Burkett, participated in the Bike MS: Bike-to-the-Bay 2013 event in Toledo, OH on June 29th and 30th. Cyclists had the option of participating in a one or two day ride. The one-day route was 35 miles, while the two-day route allowed riders to choose a distance of 50, 75, or 100 miles each day.
CSX was the largest team participating in the event, and the second largest fundraising team with over $35,000 raised to-date. Donations are still being accepted through the CSX Team page on the Bike MS website at http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Bike/OHOBikeEvents?team_id=315242&pg=team&fr_id=21077.
Bike MS is a series of 100 cycling events that take place across the county. The first Bike MS event was held in 1980 in Minnesota. Five years later, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society adopted the ride as an “official” event to be held in every chapter. Today, there is at least one ride offered in every state. The funds raised go toward multiple sclerosis research and other services supported by the National MS Society.
