In honor of CSX's recent Diversity and Inclusion Week celebration during the week of March 17th, CSX was pleased to provide a grant to help fund the 2014 Florida Collegiate Pride Conference (FCPC), which took place recently at the Jacksonville Campus of the University of North Florida.
Over the March 28-30 weekend, The University of North Florida Pride Club hosted over 300 attendees at the conference, with aims to promote leadership, activism, networking, diversity, health and empowerment among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and ally college students and staff from across Florida.
CSX Equality Inclusion Group member Emory Conrad hosted an informational table, answering questions about CSX's diversity and inclusions programs and sharing the company's track record of supporting LGBT issues not only in the workplace, but in the business community as well.
"CSX's sponsorship of the FCPC conference underscores CSX's core value that 'people make the difference'," said Conrad. "Nearly all of the attendees knew CSX the railroad, but few were aware of CSX, the statewide leader in commitment to LGBT inclusion. Young people starting their career today look not only a company's prospects, but also their culture and core values. It was great to talk to dozens of students and staff about how CSX honors this value by not only providing equal benefits and protection to LGBT employees, but also supporting the LGBT community by standing up against LGBT discrimination in the workplace."
