CSX Spends Day on Capitol Hill with Friends Helping Friends

On February 20th, CSX representatives joined a special group of students for a tour of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. The attendees were part of Friends Helping Friends, an Elbert County, Georgia club with over 300 student members. All are committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities and assistance to special needs students of all ages.

To qualify for membership in the popular club, students must maintain good grades, behavior and attendance. They then have the opportunity to work with students who have special needs during the school day, as well as partake in related work-study programs and internships. Coordination through such programs and local support make school trips, special events, summer camps and many other interactive school projects possible for students with special needs.

CSX has donated $5,500 in support of Friends Helping Friends over the last two years, and local CSX employees met with club members during their visit to the Capitol.

"We cannot thank you enough for your friendship and outstanding support to Friends Helping Friends," commented Sandy Adams, founding sponsor of the organization, following the visit. "What awesome opportunities our students are able to experience because of caring people like those at CSX."

CSX employees were equally appreciative of the time spent together. "Friends Helping Friends is an outstanding organization," said Craig Camuso, CSX's Regional Vice President-State Government Affairs. "I'm very proud that CSX supports it and grateful to have had this experience at the Capitol today."
