CSX Service Design Team Collaborates On Effort to Give Back to the Community

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15th, the CSX Service Design gathered for its 2nd quarter staff meeting in Jacksonville, FL to discuss a number of topics including productivity and pricing initiatives, reducing fuel costs, future plans for transportation assets as well as a new fiber optics project that will increase safety, service and efficiency.

Later that afternoon, 53 members of the Service Design team assembled once again to contribute 106 volunteer hours at Duval Teacher Supply Depot, a non-profit organization that CSX has supported for several years.

The Teacher Supply Depot is a warehouse of reusable materials donated by business and community members that were once destined for a landfill. These items receive attention and mending from volunteers like the Service Design team and are then distributed free to public school teachers to enhance instruction in their classroom and promote student achievement.

Since the Teacher Supply Depot opened in September of 1996 more than 1,400 contributors donated over $55 million worth of supplies.
