CSX was named one of the platinum-level “First Coast Healthiest Companies” at the 5th Annual First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference on May 15. CSX was awarded this honor by The Jacksonville Business Journal and the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council. Since the award’s inception, CSX has been recognized as a leader in providing health and wellness initiatives. Prior to the addition of the platinum-level award in 2013, CSX was the recipient of the gold-level award for four consecutive years.
CSX was recognized for developing and delivering innovative health promotion initiatives for its employee population. “This award is a symbol of our organization’s continued commitment to supporting employee health and safety,” said Ken Glover, Director Health, Wellness and Human Performance.
CSX provides employees and spouses with a comprehensive suite of fitness, nutrition and awareness programs. “Our goal is to improve employee access and engagement to health promotion and disease prevention resources,” said Glover. “In support of this goal, we have placed 39 on-site fitness centers and 20 on-site health coaches (registered dietitians and fitness specialists) at various locations across our vast network.”
CSX also offers weight management initiatives, a competitive pedometer program called Small Steps, tobacco cessation counseling, and flu vaccinations services. These resources are available to help empower employees to lead healthy lifestyles.
The First Coast Worksite Wellness Council is one of the leading groups in promoting the Healthy Jacksonville 2020 initiative. Their mission is to improve the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance through their member businesses.
