CSX and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation brought volunteers together to clean the Elizabeth River and surrounding areas

HAMPTON ROADS, VA, JUNE 7th, 2014—Over 200 Volunteers from CSX, Port of Virginia and SKW Constructors teamed at the Front Street Site to their part of making the 26th Annual Chesapeake Bay Foundation Clean the Bay Day a success. They ridded the banks of the Elizabeth River, adjacent to the Hampton Roads Naval Museum over to the Plum Point Park of 5 tons of trash and other debris. CSX was a lead sponsor of the event.

Volunteers throughout Virginia, from Hampton Roads to Northern Virginia, from the Eastern Shore to the Shenandoah Valley, worked by land and boat to give the bay a spring cleaning.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation reported that "6,500 volunteers removed 135,000 pounds of debris from more than 200 sites encompassing 500 miles of streams and shoreline" during the event.
