For more than 70 years, the Santa Train has made the holidays brighter for the residents of Appalachia. In a holiday tradition like no other, the Santa Train travels 110 miles from Shelby, Ky., to Kingsport, Tenn., with Santa and his helpers giving out more than 15 tons of clothing, food, toys and gifts at stops along the way.
For information about the Santa Train, its history, celebrity guests and more, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
CSX donates personnel, equipment, logistics support, gift bags, train cars and track time to support the Santa Train each year; but several other sponsors are critical to the Santa Train's success. Food City and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce provide many of the donations and volunteers to staff the train, stuff gift bags, and provide gift storage, and Dignity U Wear provides the winter weather accessories included in each gift bag.
Support The Santa Train
There are several ways to support the Santa Train. In early fall, information will be posted on our social media channels about the annual packing party in Kingsport, Tenn. If you're interested in contributing to the Santa Train, you can send both financial contributions and items for the gift bags to the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce. Financial contributions will go toward the Santa Train Scholarship Fund, which the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce awards to a graduating senior from a high school along the route.
