Trees for Tracks
In 2009, CSX set out to plant one tree for every mile of its track in the United States. At the time that sounded like a lot, but thanks to the generosity and effort of dedicated employees, their families and our partners, we've exceeded our goal and need a new promise to chase as we work to improve the quality of life and the landscapes of the communities we intersect and serve.
The Trequel: Now Planting an Additional Tree Per Mile of Track |
Started in 2014, CSX is planting an additional tree for every mile of CSX track across the eastern United States. In total we will be planting 42,000 trees by the year 2018.
At a recent Trees for Tracks event, CSX teamed up with City Year, Arbor Day, and over 50 volunteers to plant 50 trees at Linden Park in Columbus, Ohio. These trees helped to restore what an Emerald Ash Borer (beetle) infestation had destroyed.
