CSX Transportation reinforced its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship with a recent $2,500 grant to a Newport News-based land conservancy. The funding will help promote the creation and preservation of green space throughout the City of Newport News through advocacy, acquisition and assistance to others. The Newport News Green Foundation works to establish, maintain and preserve green spaces in perpetuity within the City of Newport News.

CSX is the railroad industry’s Charter Member of the EPA SmartWay Transport Program, designed to promote voluntary reductions in fuel consumption and emissions.

“We are excited about this new partnership,” said Amanda Wroten, Executive Director of the Newport News Green Foundation. “CSX’s generosity will help make Newport News a more visually attractive place to live, work and play for current and future generations. We are honored by their generosity and look forward to partnering with them in the future.”
