Ken Gilsdorf, Community Affairs & Safety Officer, shows his support at the Lake Township Tree Dedication.

CSX made a donation to the Lake Township Friendship Park Committee, which holds the "Music In The Park" summer concerts, a Chili Cook-Off, Breakfast with Santa, weekly Farmer Markets held at Friendship Park, and several tree plantings which are dedicated to people who have contributed to the culture of the township. The money that CSX contributes goes toward costs of advertising and holding these events. CSX and their logo are on all advertising flyers.

During the Friday "Music In The Park", the band played a song ("I Hear That Train A-Coming"), which was dedicated to CSX. CSX helped with children's games during Friendship Day in planting trees that were dedicated to a Lake Township pioneer.

CSX operations greatly impacts Lake Township and Walbridge. Along with the contribution of money and assistance in their community programs, the company holds classes with police and fire fighters on first response to any rail incident, and several residents are CSX-trained Operation Lifesaver Presenters.
