Through grass-roots volunteerism and focused corporate giving, CSX is committed to strengthening the bond between our company and the citizens of the towns in which we live and work.
Somewhere in the United States a child is on their way to school. They enjoy learning, like their classes — they even like their teachers. What they don’t like?
More than one million students give up on school each year — and 50 percent of those drop outs happen in just 12 percent of schools. CSX is doing our part to combat America’s drop out crisis, by serving as a national leadership sponsor to City Year, an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on track to graduate.
Safe Place is the first step to help for any youth in crisis or at risk. This community collaboration program, operated by youth shelters and youth serving agencies makes it possible for any youth to access help at locations displaying the Safe Place sign.
CSX and FFA share a common interest in leadership development, environmental and natural resources conservation and safety education. CSX will sponsor chapter leadership programs in nine states, will assist in developing program curriculum for FFA members, and will participate in a variety of initiatives.
After decades, FFA is still inspiring young people to apply their skills and interests to the field of agriculture thanks in part to the support of CSX Corporation.
The Sanctuary on 8th Street in Jacksonville, Florida serves 100 inner-city school-aged children. As part of a multi-day service project, CSX management teams worked to improve the important community center.
In an ongoing effort to incorporate volunteerism and citizenship into the day-to-day operation of CSX, new management trainees were given the opportunity to assist in renovations to the historic building, which was once a U.S. post office, and now houses a safe-haven for children in inner city Jacksonville.
This summer, CSX contributed $5,000 to Project Hope of Cleveland, designated for Project Hope’s “A Health Care Safety Net” project for the Community. CSX is a regular contributor and strong supporter of the organization.
