CSX-City Year Community Engagement Day at Reavis School

The service day will be at the Reavis Math/Science Specialty School, 834 E. 50th St. Chicago, IL 60615 and service tasks will include

  • Mulching and playground beautification
  • Creation of a sustainable school garden in which students will grow vegetables
  • Painting of school cafeteria, including murals

50 volunteers came together to improve Family Future Center and Veterans Memorial Park. Enhancements to the two sites included building a community garden space with planter beds, pathways and fencing; building 4 mural benches; painting indoor wall murals and walls in the gym and recreation center; and planting 5 trees. Improvements will continue with the future construction of a gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park.

Approximately 150 volunteers for the Warren/Holyfield Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta, GA. Tasks will include playground improvements, brush clearing & painting. Volunteers will also construct benches, cubbies & bookshelves for the club.
