CSX-City Year Trees for Tracks Event at Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School

5/26 in Jacksonville, FL —

In partnership with ACTrees, Greenscape, HDR Engineering and the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), 75 volunteers will plant 62 trees at Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School. Volunteers will also installing benches & new pathways. The middle school serves students in the Eastside neighborhood of Jacksonville.

CSX-City Year Service Day at Flora D. Crittenden Middle School

6/2 at 8:00am EDT in Newport News, VA —

Flora D. Crittenden Middle School is the math, science and technology magnet school for the city of Newport News. 90 volunteers from CSX, City Year and the Newport News community will come together to provide the school with new picnic tables, an outdoor classroom, a vegetable & butterfly garden and new murals.

Santa Train 2012

11/17 in Shelby, KY to Kingsport, TN —

Since 1943, the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce, CSX (and its predecessors) and Food City have co-sponsored the Santa Train. The annual 'Christmas parade' is an Appalachian tradition that ushers in the holiday season.

CSX-City Year Safe Play Day at Rose Lake Park

5/12 in Fairmont City, IL —

Improvements to the play space in Rose Lake Park were undertaken by 50 volunteers from CSX, City Year and the community. Volunteers reconditioned and painted playground equipment, installed border and added safety surfacing around playground equipment, landscaped in the parks’ planters, and created and installed a new sign. The event was in partnership with the Village of Fairmont City.

Trees for Tracks at Dodge Park

5/5 in Worcester, MA —

In partnership with Alliance for Community Trees, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the US Department of Agriculture, and the Worcester Tree Initiative, 75 volunteers from CSX & the community planted 112 trees and performed landscaping at Dodge Park in Worcester. Dodge Park was formed from a 13-acre land donation by Thomas Dodge and is one of Worcester’s oldest parks.

CSX-City Year Service Day at Francis Scott Key School in Locust Point

4/28 in Baltimore, MD —

Volunteers helped revitalize this neighborhood school with new murals, landscaping, improved drainage and bench repair. Francis Scott Key School has been serving the neighborhood since the mid-1800s.

Clean-Up Day at the Anacostia River

3/24 in Louisville, KY —

75 volunteers from CSX, City Year and the community came together to transform the National Safe Place on Bowman Avenue through a variety of landscaping and construction projects.

CSX-City Year Service Day at the Warren/Holyfield Boys & Girls Club

2/28 in Atlanta, GA —

Approximately 120 volunteers came together for the Warren/Holyfield Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta, GA. Tasks included playground improvements, brush clearing & painting. Volunteers also constructed benches, cubbies & bookshelves for the club.

Multi-Day Service Project at the Sanctuary on 8th

Trees for Tracks along Nuccio Parkway Greenway

11/19/2011 in Tampa, FL —

75 volunteers will came together to plant trees along Nuccio Parkway near downtown Tampa. 56 trees were planted, including guava, orange, jacaranda, pecan, cedar, poinciana, cassia, and plum.

100 volunteers came together in downtown Norfolk to plant 20 trees, hundreds of shrubs & plants, install sod, and mulch garden areas. The event was in partnership with the City of Norfolk & the Freemason Street Area Association.

Trees for Tracks at the Legacy Trail

11/5/2011 in Lexington, KY —

Legacy Trail is a 12-mile multi-use trail beginning east of downtown Lexington and running to the Kentucky Horse Park. Volunteers from CSX, Lexmark and the community planted trees in an 11-acre field adjacent to the trail.

Holiday Box Event at the Maryland Food Bank

10/27/2011 in Baltimore, MD —

Approximately 30 employees from CSX will volunteer at the Maryland Food Bank to pack 8,000 holiday boxes to be distributed to families in need during the holiday season. The holiday boxes will include all the “fixings” for a nutritious holiday meal.
