Thanks to City Year Chicago,

  • 94 students served 47 third- through fifth-graders in the Starfish program and 47 first- through third-graders in literacy tutoring, and
  • over 210 students, parents, and family members participated in after-school programs, such as Reading Night and Starfish Corps celebrations.

50 volunteers came together to improve Family Future Center and Veterans Memorial Park. Enhancements to the two sites included building a community garden space with planter beds, pathways and fencing; building 4 mural benches; painting indoor wall murals and walls in the gym and recreation center; and planting 5 trees. Improvements will continue with the future construction of a gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park.

Approximately 150 volunteers for the Warren/Holyfield Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta, GA. Tasks will include playground improvements, brush clearing & painting. Volunteers will also construct benches, cubbies & bookshelves for the club.
